Conference Registration Deadlines Approaching - March 28 Earlybird
The AVDA Annual Conference is a time to
reflect on the year’s past successes and challenges and a time to look
forward to new opportunities on the horizon for distributors and
manufacturers as the animal health industry continues to evolve and
prosper. The beautiful Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort in Santa Ana Pueblo,
New Mexico will be the site for the AVDA 2012 Annual Conference to be
held April 29-May 1. Nestled on a centuries-old Tamayame Pueblo
reservation near the picturesque Sandia Mountains and Rio Grande River,
AVDA attendees will be inspired by their surroundings to reflect on the
past and move forward with renewed confidence for the future.

AVDA Board Appoints New
Alternate Associate Member Director - Robin Mease, Merck Animal Health
At the AVDA Board’s January board of
directors meeting, the board appointed Robin Mease of Merck Animal
Health as Alternate Associate Member director. Brad Butler formerly of
Ceva Animal Health resigned from the board as Associate Member Director
at the end of 2011 and Chuck Barrier of Boehringer Ingelheim Vetmedica,
Inc. has succeeded him as Associate Member director.
AVDA Annual Meeting &
Election of Officers and Directors to Be Held in Santa Ana Pueblo, NM
AVDA will be holding its Annual Meeting of
Active Members and elections on Monday, April 30, 2012 at 12:30 p.m. at
the Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort in Santa Ana Pueblo, New Mexico, in
conjunction with its Annual Conference. A slate of officers and
directors to serve on the AVDA Board Of Directors will be announced in
the next 30 days.

The National Labor Relations Act (Act)
applies to most private-sector employers—whether or not the employees
are represented by a union. The Act protects the rights of employees to
communicate with each other about wages, hours and other terms and
conditions of employment.
Court Upholds NLRB
Notice Posting Requirement but Invalidates Certain Enforcement Sanctions
On March 3, 2012, the federal district
court in the District of Columbia ruled that the National Labor
Relations Board (NLRB) has sufficient rulemaking authority under the
National Labor Relations Act (NLRA) to require most private sector
employers (whether or not they have union workers) to post workplace
notices that inform employees of their rights under the NLRA. (Docket
No. 11-1629). The effective date for compliance with the NLRB rule,
originally November 14, 2011, had been postponed to April 30, 2012
pending court review. Several business organizations, including the
Coalition for a Democratic Workplace (CDW—which NAW helps manage),
challenged the rule and its enforcement provisions in court on various
